During the presentation of the George Beusmans Science Prize 2025 on November 28, the Radboudumc team of Gerbrich Douma, Ton Satink, Kitty Jurrius, Paulien Goossens, and Maud Graff was honored for their project “The Brilliant Study: Implementation of the Primary Care Recovery Guide for Brain Injury.”
With their poster and vlog, they convincingly demonstrated how strengthening primary care and collaboration in regional networks can contribute to better care for people with stroke/acquired brain injury.
The research is distinguished by:
- Participation of patients and healthcare professionals in robust research;
- Clear presentation of methods and results with an eye for practical applicability;
- A call for collaboration to jointly formulate recommendations.
The award, presented by the ‘Stichting Kennisnetwerk CVA Nederland” (Dutch Stroke Knowledge Network Foundation), underscores the impact of this research on the practice and future of recovery care for brain injuries.
