The journal Death Studies recently published a paper on a study of pastors' (pastors, pastoral workers, spiritual caregivers) experiences with euthanasia. The research team was led by Stef Groenewoud (medical ethicist at IQ Health. Not only the beautiful sides of pastors' work were discussed in this article, but also the downright difficult aspects of it. A classification was made of these difficult aspects, as a prelude to a best practice for pastoral care in euthanasia. A bit like a nomenclature of symptoms and diseases forms the basis for a treatment guideline. In addition to the content, the method used is interesting: Concept Mapping. This is a hybrid quantitative/qualitative methodology to crystallize concepts, define them and measure the importance/weight of those concepts.
