Research and education Courses and training Ethics in Healthcare (Ethiek in de Zorgsector)

Are you higher educated and working in healthcare? Do you regularly encounter situations that make you raise your ethical eyebrows, that evoke a sense of unease in you? Ethics in the Healthcare Profession is for you if you want to train yourself in reflection on ethical questions that arise in your work.

For whom

The programme is designed for higher-educated healthcare professionals and managers who want to deepen and become proficient in dealing with the ethical aspects of their work. Ethics in the Healthcare Profession is organized by the Department of Healthcare Ethics at the Radboudumc IQ Health Department. The programme language is Dutch.

Content

Care is intrinsically ethical. Sometimes the moral dimension is easy to recognize, as in questions surrounding genetics, artificial reproduction or euthanasia. But moral questions can also arise in more everyday practical situations. Questions about how we treat our most vulnerable fellow citizens, about health disparities, staff shortages, workloads and demanding patients. These questions stem from the question "What is good care?" and the Ethics in Healthcare programme is about this question.
Participants in the programme confirm time and again that it gives them a basis for recognizing and dealing with the ethical aspects of their work as well as the issues affecting their organization. They learn to stimulate discussion on moral issues and contribute to opinion formation and reflection, which contributes to the continuous improvement of the quality of care. Theory and practice are closely interwoven in this programme and both micro, meso and macro levels are covered.
