News Coalition Lifestyle in Care - Substantiating Lifestyle in Guidelines

6 November 2024

As part of the Coalition Lifestyle in Care, IQ Health researcher Maud Heinen recently started as project leader on the topic of Substantiation of Lifestyle in Guidelines, and Rosa Mennes as secretary of the working group 'team guidelines'. The main goal is to optimally integrate well-supported and clear lifestyle recommendations into quality standards and professional guidelines.

To this end, Guidelines Team is working intensively with various parties involved in guideline development. In particular, the work will focus on how (strong) lifestyle recommendations with action perspectives can be formulated in guidelines, without losing sight of the methodology of guideline development.

To this end, in 2024 the researchers will conduct several interviews with stakeholders within guideline development from different fields of healthcare. The goal is to get clarity on how this is handled and what is needed to achieve that goal.

In 2025, the researchers plan three working sessions to come up with a product that gives direction to guideline developers to include lifestyle in guidelines. In addition to focusing on the strength of the evidence, the researchers are also paying attention to providing actionable perspectives for health care providers.

If this is of interest to you, or if you have ideas about this, you are welcome to contact Maud Heinen or Rosa Mennes.
