The Advisory Council for Science, Technology and Innovation (Awti) organized their annual symposium on September 26 last, where Prof. Marijn de Bruin, professor of behavioral sciences at IQ Health, was one of the speakers. The symposium focused on successful innovation and the importance of the social sciences and humanities in doing so, following an Awti advisory report to the Ministry of OCW.

Minister Eppo Bruins, former chairman of the Awti, explained that he had commissioned the SSH Council, NWO, TNO and CLICKNL to develop an action plan to give social effects a natural place in innovations for social transitions (SSH report). Marijn de Bruin spoke about the importance of the social sciences in facing major societal challenges (from care and prevention to climate and equity). About further developing the way social sciences (collaborate) to generate more impact. And that perhaps the most important innovation of the social sciences would be to act as an engine for change as well as connection (LinkedIn post).
