The research project 'Good care across the stage: through theater to better end-of-life care in people with dementia' has recently started. The team consists of Prof. Dr. Stef Groenewoud (IQ Health/TUU), Prof. Dr. Theo Boer (PThU), Dr. Geeske Peeters (RadboudUMC, Alzheimer center), Prof. Dr. Marcel Olde Rikkert (RadboudUMC, Alzheimer center) and Dr. Janieke Bruin (IQ Health).
In this research project, an effect measurement of 'Lang zal hij leven', an interactive theatrical performance about euthanasia in dementia, was created from a collaboration between production company Nachtzon Media and the Protestant Theological University. The research question is: What is the effect of this performance on the moral education of caregivers around end-of-life in dementia? And what regional differences can be found?
Among other things, insights from this project are intended to contribute to the revision of the guideline 'End-of-life decision-making in dementia'. The project was made possible by a grant from the Gieskes-Strijbis Foundation.
